What makes us special...
Our Philosophy
Lightweight - energy-efficient - feed-saving - gentle on the ground - powerful
After converting his 40-hectare farm to organic farming, Max Bannaski became intensely focused on these buzzwords. He deliberately did not want to follow the general trend towards ever larger, heavier, and more energy-intensive machinery. For him, it was clear that this path did not fit his vision of sustainable agriculture.
Instead, he opted for the opposite approach. He replaced large tractors with smaller and significantly lighter machines, with the aim of not only maintaining but even increasing operational efficiency. However, the grassland machinery available on the market could not meet these requirements.
His ambition and clear vision became the driving force behind the development of his own machines, specifically designed for sustainable grassland management.
His guiding principle in this is:
To achieve maximum ecological and economic efficiency with minimal energy expenditure.
Our Story
BB-Umwelttechnik GmbH is a young company that arose from the practical demand for machines that founder Max Bannaski originally developed exclusively for his own agricultural operations.
As the agricultural machinery sector offered no suitable solutions, the master mechanical engineer and farmer began designing his own equipment in 2005. His first machine was a bale wrapper. When the farm later needed to acquire a hay and forage harvester, it became apparent once again that no manufacturer could meet his requirements. He was looking for a front-mounted hay and forage harvester with a low dead weight, approximately five metres working width, easy to pull and gentle on the fodder.
Inspired by the principle of the comb rake, as was common in the 1950s, Max Bannaski then developed his first own comb rake. This machine is still in use on his farm for harvesting today.
The concept met with great interest. Curiosity grew in the region, and soon the first concrete enquiry for a comb rake with an eight-metre working width followed.
In the next step, Max Bannaski turned his attention to the development of mowers. He was particularly impressed by the advantages offered by double-blade mowers: low weight, gentle on forage, power requirement of approx. 25% that of a rotary mower, completely gentle on amphibious and insects, significantly better growth following mowing and high efficiency.
On this basis, he developed a well-thought-out and functional double-blade mower.
From the outset, he opted for a modular building-block system for both tedders and mowers. This allows for flexible replacement of components and expansion of machinery as needed. Today, the range includes a constantly growing product portfolio.
Founding of the company BB-Umwelttechnik
A simple YouTube video is generating significant interest. What was intended as a small side project is quickly developing into a serious business. 2015 Max sells his first machine and dares to take the step into self-employment by founding the company BB-Umwelttechnik.
First major order and permanent employees
Major order from the Philippines for 72 mowers for sugarcane harvesting! This year, the ECO side mower and a new comb swather will be developed.
BB-Umwelttechnik employs 4 full-time staff and 2 part-time members of staff.
The first hall is being built
The company is growing rapidly. Initially, the machines were still built on the agricultural farm. The increasing demand necessitates larger production areas, and in 2017, the first hall was built in Roßhaupten.
Moving to Roßhaupten
Company relocation to Roßhaupten with 12 employees. Commissioning of the company's own powder coating plant.
Expansions and Investments
The production hall is being expanded several times. Investment is being made in a laser cutting system and a welding robot.
Start of construction for further assembly hall
Start of construction of the new assembly hall. Investment in two new welding robots and a fully automatic shot-blasting system.
For the first time, over 500 machines are being built!
Moving to new assembly hall
Relocation of assembly, service and shipping to the new building. Expansion of the product range to include the PICO front mower.
Grand Anniversary Celebration
The company is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a grand party, where the new 4-rotor rake will also be unveiled. A great achievement by the entire team, which now consists of 48 employees!
Share in the company Miller Grader
BB-Umwelttechnik is acquiring a stake in Miller Grader GmbH and will be manufacturing the first graders at the Roßhaupten plant.
In-house catering is launched in the roof of the new assembly hall.
